Public Speaking is designed to help students develop increased skills in the important art of public speaking. Emphasis is on the way to communicate effectively in professional, business and social situations. Whether you end up working for the government, corporate world, non-profit organizations or becoming self-employed, public speaking skills will be an important part of your professional career. Developing these skills also will enrich your ability to communicate one-on-one, whether it be in a job interview or business meeting. One of the main goals of the course is for you to discover that public speaking in its many forms is not a negative experience to be feared and that with practice anyone can become a more comfortable, thoughtful, and engaging public speaker. You will learn to research, compose, organize, and deliver speeches. Four speeches┬┐an introductory, informative, special occasion, and ceremonial speech┬┐will be graded.
